An unemployed young person is more likely to remain unemployed later in life, suffer from mental and physical health issues, and become involved in anti-social behaviour. Haringey Stars (registered charity No 1122251) was founded to improve this outcome for the youth in North London. Also known as Ingenium, Haringey Stars aims to improve the lives of young people, particularly those not in education, employment, or training (NEET) or at risk of becoming NEET. The programme creates pathways to employment and career progression by developing programme participants’ confidence, leadership, and organizational and social skills, by engaging them through performing arts.
Our upcoming exciting project namely ‘Genius Search’ commences in Autumn and will culminate in a showcase on 10th December 2016. This is a music project integrated with events management working with 15 creative young people over 10 weeks and leading to an Arts Awards qualification.
To continue our work we are now looking for trustees to join our Board. The Board of Trustees provides strategic direction and accountability. Our Trustees are expected to attend six Board meetings per year. Board meetings take place at Laurels Healthy Living Centre, 256 St Ann’s Road, London N15 5AZ.
We are seeking individuals who can bring the following qualities in order to help us grow:
1. Dedication and commitment to young people and the work we do
2. Experience relevant to managing a small charity and ensuring success
3. Skills of strategic analysis and able to speak ones mind.
4. An ability to think creatively and recognise opportunities
5. An ability to support the Chair and CEO and work with fellow Board Trustees to guide the work of Haringey Stars
Applications from candidates who have experience in areas such as financial accounting, fundraising, marketing or organisational leadership would be particularly welcome, though suitable candidates with other backgrounds are also encouraged to apply.

The role is not salaried but out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed. The appointment is for 1 year and renewable for up to two more three-year terms.
This role will be subject to an Enhanced DBS (Disclosure Baring Service/Police Check) and 2 satisfactory references before the appointment will be confirmed.
